Befriending
A befriender is someone who is able to offer support and form a positive one-to-one relationship with a person who may be lonely or isolated as a result of his or her ill health.
Befriending is carried out on a one-to-one basis to improve an individual's social network, and help them become more involved and feel included in their own community.

Approved Provider Standard (APS) accreditation
The Befriending Network Scotland has accredited Birchwood Highland as an Approved Provider of befriending services through volunteers.
This is a quality standard developed by the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation.
